Helix Nebula @ e-IRG workshop, 11-12 June 2012, Copenhagen

Maryline Lengert, ESA, on the 12 of June 2012 gave a presentation on Helix Nebula - The Science Cloud "Scientific Cloud Computing Infrastructure for Europe" at the e-IRG workshop held in Copenhagen.

The workshop was attended by about 90 participants from Research infrastructure, EC staff and projects, Regional initiatives  and national delegates to the e-IRG board.

The presentation on Helix Nebula triggered a discussion on Public Private Partnership (PPP) between publicly funded infrastructures and commercial providers, about the current "monopoly" of publicly funded infrastructure and about sustainability. The Danish delegation, René Belso, was particularly positive, stating that Helix Nebula was questioning the current status quo and therefore bringing new and valuable views and innovation on the e-infrastructure domain. The attendees concurred that Helix Nebula is a very interesting initiative and they are all eager to see how it develops. After the presentation a series of synergies have been established with the project.
