Europe’s Leading Public-Private Partnership for Cloud

The Helix Nebula Initiative is a partnership between industry, space and science to establish a dynamic ecosystem, benefiting from open cloud services for the seamless integration of science into a business environment. Today, the partnership counts over 40 public and private partners.

Helix Nebula @ European Geosciences Union General Assembly 2013, 7-12 April, Vienna

Francesco Casu of CNR-IREA represented Helix Nebula at the EGU General Assembly in Vienna in 7 to 12 of April 2013.

The presentation prepared by Bob Jones of CERN and Francesco Casu, was entitled "Helix Nebula - the Science Cloud: A public-private partnership to build a multidisciplinary cloud platform for data intensive science"
and addressed the following subjects:
- the long term goal of the Helix Nebula partnership
- expected benefits
- info on the work done up to this moment with the Helix Nebula initial fagships (CERN, EMBL, ESA) and next steps
- info on new chosen flagships.

The EGU General Assembly 2013 brings together geoscientists from all over the world into one meeting covering all disciplines of the Earth, Planetary and Space Sciences. Especially for young scientists, it is the aim of the EGU to provide a forum where they can present their work and discuss their ideas with experts in all fields of geosciences.

HELIX NEBULA PARTNERSHIP

Helix Nebula is a new, pioneering partnership between leading IT providers and four of Europe’s biggest research centres, CERN, EMBL, ESA and PIC, charting a course towards sustainable cloud services for the research communities - the Science Cloud.
