Europe’s Leading Public-Private Partnership for Cloud

The Helix Nebula Initiative is a partnership between industry, space and science to establish a dynamic ecosystem, benefiting from open cloud services for the seamless integration of science into a business environment. Today, the partnership counts over 40 public and private partners.

Proton and Neutron Data Analysis as a Service (PANDAAS) Workshop

On July 7th, 2016, ESRF hosted a workshop in Grenoble, France, to promote the Helix Nebula Science Cloud to the community of photon and neutron (PAN) research labs. Among the 40 registered participants were members of ESRF, ILL, and national photon and neutron research labs around Europe, as well as LBL in the USA. Representing the HNSciCloud at the workshop was Bob Jones of CERN.

The purpose of the workshop was to inform the aforementioned scientific community of HNSciCloud and its potential uses in their field, specifically to help coordinate Data Analysis as a Service (DAAS). To emphasize its significance, the PICSE roadmap was distributed, further clarifying the best method for procurement.

Ultimately, ESRF agreed to present their tests with AWS and the Prologue Cloud Broker at the next Helix Nebula General Assembly.
