Helix Nebula @ EC Workshop on Towards an EU strategy of Cloud computing for government and science, 26 November, Brussels

CERN will represent Helix Nebula at the EC workshop "Towards an EU strategy of Cloud computing for government and science", Brussels, 26 November 2012. The European Commission encouraged Helix Nebula to pursue the hybrid model (mixed public/private resources/services for the federated cloud) and to provide big-data related services.

The Workshop presents the main findings of a study conducted by IDC and Trust-IT on behalf of the European Commission to help shape future policy on clouds for e-Science and government. Presentations will include an analysis on the state of play, case studies from both science and government and barriers to wider uptake. The workshop also features interactive panel discussions and break-out sessions with the invited participants from government, research and e-infrastructures. Bob Jones, CERN will be representing and presenting Helix Nebula.

Helix Nebula is a new, pioneering partnership between leading IT providers and four of Europe’s biggest research centres, CERN, EMBL, ESA and PIC, charting a course towards sustainable cloud services for the research communities - the Science Cloud.
